It all started when...
Coach Chris Lock had the idea to take the children away to experience playing football oversea. At first it was going to be somewhere close, easily accessible, Then NO!! He decides lets take the boys to the biggest youth football competition in the world, The Gothia World Youth Cup. So with parents using their hard earned money and with the club receiving donations, it all became a reality. 19 children and 4 coaches travelling to Gothenburg, Sweden, on the 16th July 2017, to take part in something that these children will remember for the rest of their lives. It was an amazing trip, with the boys being together 24 hours a day for 7 days of the week. By the end of the tour they were no longer just a team, they were a family. At the opening ceremony there were 50 thousand people. It was at this point the children realised just what a spectacle they were now a part of.
Fast forward to 2019 and we have now attended the Gothia Cup for the past 3 years running and have made it an end of season spectacle for all our players. We intend to continue to attend the Gothia Cup every year, for as long as we can get players who wish to take go.
